A foundational principle in Vaisnava families is to see our spouse as a Vaisnava first and foremost. Any type of spousal/family abuse is Vaisnava apradha, offending Krishna’s devotees, and has serious spiritual consequences. Although it varies country to country, most physical and sexual abuse, along with some forms of psychological and emotional abuse, financial abuse and neglect are also a criminal offense.
