I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Relationship Specialist & Educator. I have graduated from The University of Louisiana at Monroe, LA, in 2007, with a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy—a very specialized mental health field which does not blame or label the individual but approaches issues from a systemic or a holistic perspective.I have received training in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Intergenerational Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Group Therapy, among several others.
Through education and therapy, I treat individuals, couples, families, groups,and organizations that are facing life’s challenges or need a systems overhaul. I conform to the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy’s Code of Ethics.
My deep concern for the well-being of people stems from my background- a Pediatrician & Neonatologist. As a medical doctor, trained to heal people from distress and pain, I worked in India for over 10 years. This gave me a deep understanding of the trauma children experience due to troubled family relationships and convinced me to address these issues. My greatest joy is to help people heal from issues that cause them to interact in unhelpful ways, so that they are free to relate in happy, helpful, mutually beneficial ways…especially couples who have children, so that the children do not become victims of divorce. Divorce is so devastating to all concerned and children are traumatized for life.
I have now been in the counseling and therapy profession from 2002 and have many clinical hours, treating innumerable individuals, couples and families with significant success.In 2010, after working in several mental health clinics, I started my own private practice. I also travel within the USA and also abroad [Europe and India] and offer seminars and workshops on various topics such as ‘Loving Vaisnava Relationships,’ ‘Strong Marriages,’ ‘Be a Better Parent,’ etc.
